Babies in Business

9.1.07
If you are looking for a low-cost, high-return employee perk that produces direct rewards in retention, recruitment, teamwork, and even health care expenses, start a babies-at-work program at your company. A babies-at-work program allows parents to bring their babies to work with them for the first several months of life (generally until the babies begin to crawl) and care for the babies while they work. Babies in the workplace tend to be extremely content, and these programs produce tremendous loyalty from parents as well as from other employees.

At first glance, the concept seems unrealistic. However, a growing number of organizations--including credit unions, law firms, government agencies, and public relations firms--have structured, highly-successful babies-at-work programs.

The business benefits provided by this program that Executives and Managers rave about, include:

  • Enabling employees to return to work sooner

  • Lower turnover

  • Lower health care costs

  • Improved overall morale due to the presence of happy babies

  • Increased overall productivity from parents and coworkers

  • Enhanced teamwork and collaboration

  • Recruitment of new employees

  • New customers and increased customer loyalty
Implementation costs and liability risks for companies are extremely low, even with all of these benefits, because the babies aren't yet mobile and parents retain responsibility for their well-being and care.

Babies in Business provides hands-on consulting services and will soon have do-it-yourself kits available to enable a business to gain maximum returns from a baby program.
